Division: Asset Management – Cross Asset Sales (Public & Private Markets)
About the Role:
A large international asset manager is seeking a highly experienced Managing Director level professional to lead institutional sales coverage across Australia. This role will focus on cross-asset distribution, encompassing both traditional and alternative investments, including fixed income, commodities, real estate, and private market strategies. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s institutional footprint in Australia, with a medium-term mandate to build and lead a local team.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive institutional client coverage across superannuation funds, sovereign wealth funds, and other large-scale asset owners (“Super 8’s”).
Originate and execute cross-asset sales opportunities across public and private markets.
Develop deep product knowledge of the firm’s offerings, including real estate, agricultural business, commodities, and alternative investments.
Collaborate closely with the Head of Institutional Business in Asia-Pacific to align regional strategy and execution.
Build and manage a local sales team over the medium term, scaling institutional coverage in Australia.
Partner with colleagues across Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane offices to leverage existing capabilities and client relationships.
Qualifications & Experience:
15+ years of experience in asset management and investment banking, with a strong track record in institutional sales.
Proven expertise in cross-asset distribution, covering both traditional (fixed income, equities) and alternative investments (real estate, private markets, commodities).
Established network among Australian institutional investors, including superannuation funds and sovereign wealth funds.
Strong commercial acumen and ability to originate large-scale mandates.
Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience building and managing teams.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the gravitas to engage senior stakeholders.
Additional Information:
The role is based in Sydney or Melbourne, with flexibility to cover clients nationally.
The firm has approximately 200 staff in Australia, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
This is a senior-level position reporting directly to the Head of Institutional Business in Asia-Pacific.
