Job Description - Head of Credit - Chinese Corporate Banking (confidential search)

Head of Credit - Corporate Banking (Confidential Search) Chinese Corporate Bank | Stable & Long-Term Platform

This is a confidential search for a well-established Chinese corporate bank with a strong balance sheet and long-standing market presence. The bank is seeking an experienced Head of Credit to lead its end-to-end credit function, covering both pre-approval and post-approval responsibilities.

This role is ideal for a senior credit professional who values a stable working environment, clear risk governance, and long-term career sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the entire credit lifecycle, including credit assessment, approval, documentation review, monitoring, and post-disbursement management
Serve as a key credit decision-maker in line with internal authority and governance frameworks
Provide independent, prudent credit opinions on corporate and institutional banking transactions
Manage post-approval credit functions including portfolio monitoring, covenant tracking, early warning signals, credit reviews, and problem loan management
Ensure credit policies and practices remain aligned with head office standards and regulatory requirements
Partner closely with business, risk, and operations teams to support disciplined business growth
Lead, mentor, and develop the credit team, fostering a strong risk culture and consistency in credit judgment
Engage with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders as required

Requirements

15+ years of experience in credit risk within corporate and/or institutional banking
Strong hands-on experience covering both pre-approval and post-approval credit functions
Prior experience in a Chinese bank (PRC or overseas branch) is highly preferred
Solid knowledge of corporate lending structures, credit analysis, and risk mitigation techniques
Familiarity with regulatory expectations applicable to Chinese banking institutions
Mature judgment, strong analytical capability, and confidence in senior-level decision-making
Proven people leadership experience
Proficiency in English; Mandarin is strongly preferred
