Head of Operational risk (Sizeable Chinese bank)

Your new role
As Head of Operational Risk, you will lead the bank's operational risk function, overseeing the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the operational risk framework. You will act as a key advisor to senior management and board-level committees, ensuring effective identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of non-financial risks across the bank.
Key responsibilities include:

• Setting and maintaining the bank's operational risk framework, policies, and risk appetite alignment
• Oversight of RCSA, KRIs, loss event management, scenario analysis, and operational risk reporting
• Leading business continuity management (BCM), third-party risk, and operational resilience initiatives
• Managing regulatory engagement and ensuring compliance with local and international supervisory expectations
• Building and mentoring a nonperforming regional operational risk team

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven senior leadership experience in operational risk within a licensed bank
• Strong knowledge of Basel / non-financial risk frameworks, operational resilience, and regulatory standards
• Track record of engaging with regulators and board or committee-level stakeholders
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution in a complex environment
• Strong communication skills with the credibility to influence at executive level
