Tech Lead secondment for AIA
The Tech Lead joins a strategic enterprise cloud migration programme focused on modernising a mission-critical legacy system onto a cloud-native architecture. This position offers strong technical leadership within a structured programme environment that values best practices in cloud deployment and AI-assisted development.
Our client is a prominent organisation operating within the financial services sector, committed to leveraging innovative technology solutions to achieve digital transformation.
Role Overview The Tech Lead will be responsible for owning end-to-end technical delivery, setting architecture standards, mentoring a development team, and liaising with key stakeholders. The role spans all programme phases, from initial development through production deployment and post-launch support. Success involves delivering high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions on time, ensuring effective governance of AI tools like GitHub Copilot, and managing stakeholder expectations.
Key Skills & Experience
Lead system architecture design and documentation using ADRs
Manage sprint planning, effort estimation, and milestone tracking
Contribute production-ready code in Java 17, React 18, Helm, and Docker
Oversee security, code quality, and vulnerability scanning practices
Mentor a team of 3–5 developers, conducting 1-on-1s and fostering best practices
Govern AI-assisted coding tools, establishing prompt engineering standards
Serve as technical point of contact for cross-team communication and stakeholder engagement
Nice to Have
Experience with cloud-native patterns and multi-cloud strategies
Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 security practices in application development
Key Responsibilities
Define and evolve technical architecture, API standards, and security protocols
Lead sprint activities, technical scope, and effort estimation
Contribute to development of backend, frontend, and infrastructure code
Manage Docker and Helm configurations to meet security and compliance standards
Enforce quality gates, conduct code reviews, and manage security scans
Drive AI delivery governance, including prompt standards, output reviews, and productivity tracking
Facilitate cross-team engagement, translating business requirements into actionable tasks
Liaise with external infrastructure teams for environment parity and deployment readiness
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
Minimum 15 years of professional software development experience
Minimum 5 years in a technical lead, principal engineer, or architect role
Proven experience leading large-scale enterprise migration or modernisation projects
Prior experience leading agile teams of 3–8 engineers
Experience working within regulated industries such as financial services or insurance
Proven hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding assistant in a delivery context
