Job Description - Institutional Sales, HK Institutional & Pension Business (SM/AD level)

About the Role:

Our client, a global asset manager with a strong presence in Hong Kong, is looking to recruit a motivated institutional sales professional with 6+ years of experience and deep connections to institutional and pension clients in Hong Kong and Macau. This role is responsible for driving new business development and closing complex institutional and pension mandates across the region.

You will own the full sales cycle—from lead generation and RFP responses to final deal close—while working alongside regional and global investment teams to shape tailored solutions. You will also gain exposure to a wide range of strategies including traditional long-only, alternatives, multi-assets, insurance solutions, and passive capabilities, representing a respected brand with a collaborative culture.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Developing new institutional and pension business opportunities in Hong Kong and Macau, engaging key prospects, clients, and related consultants.
  2. Managing the end-to-end sales process, including identifying potential clients, preparing presentations, and following through to deal close.
  3. Conducting in-depth analysis such as asset-liability studies, data research, and investment risk-return profiling, particularly for pension and insurance clients.
  4. Building deep knowledge of institutional clients' business needs to effectively support their decision-making process.
  5. Partnering with regional and global investment centers to shape core offerings (traditional long-only, alternatives, multi-assets, insurance solutions, passive instruments, and indexing capabilities) to maximize growth.
  6. Generating innovative ideas and tactics, and coordinating with the RFP team to develop compelling responses for deal opportunities.
  7. Contributing new product ideas suited to the assigned markets and business segments.
  8. Achieving activity and sales targets for the region.
  9. Leading or participating in ad-hoc projects as assigned.
  10. Maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders while understanding and catering to client needs.
  11. Helping the team reach leadership position objectives with the optimal approach to meet both firm and client needs.
  12. Ensuring all procedures and compliance requirements are followed.
The Experience You Bring:
  1. University degree holder, preferably in Finance, Investments, or a related field.
  2. Relevant professional licenses in the asset management industry.
  3. 6+ years of relevant working experience.
  4. Deep knowledge and experience with institutional clients in Hong Kong and Macau.
  5. Strong experience within the insurance segment is a plus.
  6. Proven ability to service and engage with sophisticated institutional clients at a senior level.
  7. Strategic and out-of-the-box thinking.
  8. Creative in developing new ideas in response to prospect needs.
  9. Excellent time management, organizational, and results-driven mindset.
  10. Ability to multi-task across strategic and tactical work.
  11. Accurate, articulate, presentable, and self-motivated.
