Java Backend Engineer - Investment Bank - Equities Team

A leading investment bank is offering an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join the Trading & Sales-focused team within the Equity Structured Scalability group, working on multi-year, strategic, and greenfield projects. They are seeking a dynamic Java and/or full stack Java developer who is passionate about collaborating with front office desks and stakeholders to understand their requirements. The successful candidate will work with a global team to implement changes and be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of features.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a team player who can thrive in a strong technical environment and contribute to the evolution of the platform, supporting the increasing demands of the business while navigating complex global regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in an Agile environment with users from Sales, Trading, Operations, and Finance, while working alongside the Strats team to strategically enhance our structured products representation and the associated front-to-back systems.
• Participate in the full development lifecycle of projects, ensuring iterative delivery of value to stakeholders.
• Engage with colleagues and technologists globally to improve both the platforms resiliency and scalability.
• Provide Level 3 support to platform users during regional hours.

Required Skills:

• Extensive knowledge and solid commercial experience with Java 8+.
• Basic SQL experience.
• Familiarity with automated testing and continuous integration platforms.
• Strong architectural knowledge and experience working within frameworks and distributed environments.
• A desire to learn new technologies and gain business domain knowledge.
• A pragmatic approach to problem-solving in a front office environment.

Desired Skills (not essential):

• Proficiency in HTML5 technologies, Angular, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience with Scala.
• Knowledge of the equity derivatives and structured products business domain.
• Familiarity with connectivity, pricing, pre-trade workflow, trade capture, or post-trade systems in Equities, FX, Fixed Income, or Derivatives.
• Experience collaborating with quantitative analysts or strategists.
