The Role & Landscape: As the Lead Cyber Defense Engineer, you will architect, operate, and continuously evolve the firm’s core security shield across a complex hybrid, multi-cloud, and on-premise infrastructure. This is not a standard compliance or administrative role; it is a heavy engineering mandate requiring a "Security-as-Code" philosophy.

1. Build & Automate Defense: Take hands-on ownership of implementing and scaling mission-critical platforms (EDR, SASE, CASB, SIEM, and Identity solutions) to minimize manual SOC efforts.
2. Global Security Operations: Serve as the ultimate technical escalation point within a 24/7 follow-the-sun model, actively hunting threats and troubleshooting security events that impact ultra-low-latency trading systems.
3. Adversarial Architecture: Utilize threat modeling and an offensive (Red Team) mindset to predict how adversaries operate, designing proactive controls that eliminate blind spots across AWS, Azure, and on-prem networks.
4. Cross-Functional Integration: Partner directly with Infrastructure, SRE, and DevOps teams to seamlessly weave practical, high-performance security controls into fast-moving deployment pipelines.

What We Are Looking For:

1. Deep Domain Expertise: 10+ years of hands-on infrastructure security or cyber defense engineering experience, ideally within high-availability or performance-sensitive environments.
2. Packet-Level Fluency: Absolute mastery of network protocols and traffic analysis; you must be highly proficient with tools like Wireshark and tcpdump to diagnose complex, multi-layered anomalies.
3. Cloud & Hybrid Mastery: Extensive track record of securing distributed assets across hybrid architectures, specifically utilizing AWS, Azure, or Alibaba Cloud.
4. Engineering & Automation: Strong programming and scripting capabilities (Python, Go, or similar) to drive automation, build custom tooling, and enforce infrastructure-as-code principles.
5. The "Purple Team" Mindset: A profound understanding of real-world offensive tactics and how security controls actually fail under pressure in distributed systems.
