Lead Database Engineer

We're partnering with one of the world's leading quantitative trading firms to hire a Lead Database Engineer.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of business-critical database infrastructure supporting a global, technology-driven trading environment. You'll play a key role in shaping the firm's database strategy, working alongside engineering, infrastructure and quantitative research teams to design and deliver scalable, high-performance database solutions.

The role will involve:

1. Leading the design, administration and optimisation of large-scale database platforms
2. Driving high availability, disaster recovery and database security initiatives
3. Working closely with stakeholders across engineering and the business to deliver robust database solutions
4. Capacity planning, performance tuning and database architecture
5. Supporting data warehouse and cloud database initiatives
6. Mentoring engineers and promoting database best practices across the team
7. Contributing to automation using Python, PowerShell, Shell or Ansible

We're looking for engineers with:

1. Significant experience administering production database environments
2. Strong expertise across modern database technologies such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, SQL Server or PostgreSQL
3. Deep knowledge of database performance tuning, monitoring, security and disaster recovery
4. Experience designing highly available, scalable database platforms
5. Strong SQL and database programming experience
6. Linux/UNIX administration experience
7. Must be strong in Python
8. Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills
