Your new company Our client is a leading Asia-based capital markets platform with a strong Hong Kong presence and an international client base. The business is deeply embedded in regional and China-related markets and operates in a highly commercial, trading oriented environment, offering lawyers exposure to complex, cross-border legal and regulatory work.
Your new role
Provide legal support mainly to FICC, Futures and Commodities business teams based in Hong Kong and other regions
Advises on a wide range of debt financing, structured products/financings, derivatives transactions
Provides legal advice and manages debt financing transactions relating to OTC derivatives and structured debt issuances across all underlying asset classes (in particular, fixed income, funds and commodities)
Draft or review various transaction documents related to FICC transactions and products and the legal documents related to relationship establishment, such as distribution agreements, derivative transactions, structured notes, MTN program documents, terms of business, prime brokerage agreements, bond connect related agreements
Advise business teams on various legal, structural, reputational and other transaction-related issues
Respond to regulatory initiates, market structure reform and policy work
Attend internal meetings on behalf of Legal
What you'll need to succeed
Bachelor's degree or above in law
Minimum 3 to 6 years of PQE from an international law firm. Previous in-house experience would be a plus
Common law qualification (other than HK) would be preferred
Experience with FICC structured product/derivatives experience would be preferred (including FX, Rates and Credit Derivatives) but lawyers with relevant experience in other asset classes (in particular, Equity Derivatives, Funds and Commodities) would also be considered
Strong technical, commercial and communication skills along with a good ability to effectively prioritise competing workloads in a client focused manner
Strong interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills
Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese
