Job Description - Manager

RESEARCH OFFICE

The Research Office (RO) provides central administrative services and performs various roles spanning a broad range of areas, including grants and funding schemes, research ethics, integrity and policy, research committee, research culture and infrastructure, partnership and collaboration at the institutional level. The RO is now looking for a dynamic and meticulous team member to support the University in its preparation for the next Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management and oversight of preparatory work for the RAE and final submission.These include developing and managing the cycle of internal research review exercise for research outputs, impact and environment, supporting the process of RAE data collection, assisting with the scheduling, organisation, and servicing of meetings of task force, workshops, trainings or other activities relating to RAE, developing reports or presentations of use to senior management and academic units;
  • Act as the key contact point between the RO and the University academic community, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, for matters relating to RAE;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, and processes that will support the generation of excellent research with impactful outcomes;
  • Manage the day-to-day preparations for the University’s RAE submission, including collating and updating information for RAE website/social media; 
  • Serve as the Secretary of the Task Force on RAE 2026 Strategy; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A good Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant work experience in higher education sector or a related field;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • A strong sense of responsibility and an appropriate level of IT literacy, and good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Meticulous attention to details, good analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks efficiently and work under pressure to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision; and
  • Good understanding or experience in RAE would be an advantage.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of 2 years.Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and funding availability.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
