Job Description:
The role leads the coordination and execution of activities for IFRS 17 and financial results optimization. As a project-based team within Asia Regional Office's financial function, the team provides a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects with stakeholders from across functional areas and across Sun Life Asia's businesses.
Preferred skills
In-depth knowledge of the application of IFRS 17, with knowledge of insurance industry, products and related accounting issues
Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration and the ability to influence and impact others
Ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery
Ability to effectively work across multiple complex projects simultaneously and across different functional areas
Strong presentation and communication skills by converting the technical analysis to business stories / implications.
Qualifications
Degree holder in Actuarial Science or related discipline.
Qualified actuary or close to fellowship.
At least 7 years' experience in actuarial operation in life insurance company.
Responsibilities
Understand the key implications of optimization activities across all areas with a focus on the financial results, capital position, and risk implications. Working alongside the other RO functional areas, lead the development of solutions to optimize business outcomes through application of accounting policies, financial practices, and business strategy changes.
Lead IFRS 17 optimization activities through analysis of options and implications, engaging stakeholders in the Corporate and Business Units to hone direction. Own the financial analysis to understand the results under IFRS 17 on different functional areas (finance, capital, expenses, ALM, etc).
Work closely with Business Units and the Asia Regional Office to own the implementation of actions to improve business economics in Finance, and support similar actions across other functional areas (Actuarial, ALM, Expenses, etc).
Support Corporate Development and CFO functions in assessing the financial impact of M&A and business development opportunities. Includes owning the analysis of impacts on sales, income, risk, and other performance metrics.
