Patient Care Assistant II (Physiotherapy) [Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital]

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist therapists to prepare and carry out treatment programs / activities and group activities for patients in Physiotherapy departments, day centers and wards of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

a) Provide patient care services, observation, monitor patient's general condition in order to ensure patient safety and comfort.

b) Carry out therapeutic assessments, activities and rehabilitation groups.

c) Teach and supervise patients and care-givers in learning therapeutic skills.

d) Assist in transfer of patients, including transfer of patients to and from wards as necessary.

2. Assist therapists during clinical procedures, including checking patient identification and prepare patient for assessment and treatment.

3. Assist in setting up and assembly of equipment and prepare patients for treatment.

4. Prepare layout, medical equipment, audiovisual equipment and teaching materials for patient education and rehabilitation activities.

5. Assist in maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the examination area, and perform daily disinfection and maintenance of medical equipment.

6. Provide technical assistance in the production of assistive devices for patients.

7. Assist in inventory control and procurement process.

8. Assist in clinical audit and data collection.

9. Perform computerized system operation such as appointment booking, attendance taking, data processing and statistical data preparation.

10. Handle general telephone / public enquiries.

11. Perform any other job related tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements:

1.      Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks); AND

2.      Completion of structured departmental training (see Remarks); AND

3.      Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken.

Preferred Attributes:

1.      Ability to speak Putonghua.

2.      IT Knowledge\: experience in OPAS / CMS operation.

3.      Relevant health care or patient care related training / experience.

4.      Experience in direct patient care and handling of patients’ enquiries.

5.      Good communication and interpersonal skills.

6.      Good PC skills & knowledge in common software such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.

7.      Possess recognized Health Care Assistant Training / Care-related Support Workers Certificate*.

2.    Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.

3.   Serving staff who completed F.3/ S.3 with at least 2 years' care-related experience may also apply.  Candidates who have completed the JUMP program organized by the HA are considered to have attained F.3/S.3 level.
