Your Role & Responsibilities:
- Vet the applications of R&D projects; ensure requirements, business case and risks (e.g. specs, costs, planning, etc.) are defined; develop scenarios to overcome these risks to stakeholders to influence and secure ‘buy-in'
- Monitor on-going R&D projects, including technical and financial aspects and other project administrative tasks; prioritize tasks based on their functions and importance
- Represent the project team in the business and provides business management with regular project performance status updates, variances to plan and identification of corrective actions
- Build and maintain the project organization, choose the way of working and select the adequate tools (tailors the approach to the specific project)
- Work closely with R&D researchers and personnel; coordinate with local and overseas universities, research institutions and business partners, handle enquiries in a professional manner
- Perform any other duties as assigned
To succeed in this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:
- Degree in engineering or relevant discipline; master’s are desired but not an absolute requirement
- At least 3 years in managing complex or high-risk projects
- Professional knowledge of project management methods, and estimation techniques (resources, time and risks) for the relevant technical/functional discipline. PMP Certified or Prince2 qualifications are desired but not an absolute requirement
- Successfully delivered a R&D product in its full lifecycle
- Specific functional knowledge in the relevant functional discipline and related disciplines
- Soft skills such as people management, team management
- Negotiation skills; managing Subcontractors
- Proficient in verbal and written English and Chinese
- Able to travel frequently
