Job Description - Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions Sales

We are partnering with a well-established international bank to appoint a Relationship Manager within their Financial Institutions (FI) team in Hong Kong. This role focuses on driving trade finance and correspondent banking business across importer/exporter clients and financial institution relationships in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and execute a client coverage strategy to grow the FI portfolio, with a focus on importer/exporter clients and Hong Kong-based financial institutions
  2. Proactively originate trade finance transactions, including export finance, correspondent banking flows, and risk participation opportunities, ensuring alignment with internal risk frameworks
  3. Expand wallet share from existing clients while actively identifying and onboarding new-to-bank relationships
  4. Collaborate with internal product partners to deliver cross-border and transaction banking solutions tailored to client needs
  5. Maintain strong correspondent banking relationships and provide market insights on financial institutions, including credit quality and market positioning
  6. Ensure all client onboarding and ongoing reviews meet internal credit, compliance, and AML standards
  7. Monitor client activity and portfolio performance through regular engagement, reporting, and risk assessments
  8. Work closely with internal stakeholders across coverage, credit, operations, and compliance to ensure seamless client service delivery
Requirements
  1. Minimum 10 years of experience in banking, with a strong focus on Financial Institutions, Correspondent Banking, or Transaction Banking sales
  2. Proven track record in originating and executing trade finance and FI-related transactions
  3. Solid understanding of credit risk, compliance requirements, and regulatory frameworks in Hong Kong and broader APAC markets
  4. Strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and drive revenue growth
  5. Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both internally and externally
  6. Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential
