A Brief Overview

The quantitative risk team is the 2nd line on insurance and market risks within the region, ensuring that the regional markets operate within the appropriate global and regional risk frameworks. This role will be responsible for leading projects that support the enhancement and implementation of insurance and market risk frameworks across the region. It will provide oversight and monitoring of the risk frameworks to manage all insurance and market related risks through the coordination and management of internal and cross-functional stakeholders.

What you will do

• Provide oversight and risk analysis on select major quotes by acting as the 2nd line transaction review as part of the internal approval process, and through post-launch quality assurance review on the pricing process of selective quotes.
• Provide risk management expertise in the monitoring of Inforce asset liability management and insurance risk, actively challenging Inforce monitoring conclusions and associated management decisions, and providing alternative options in line with the regional framework where appropriate.
• Develop and monitor the risk appetite models and policies in the region through the continual assessment and review of existing approaches, driving the formulation of the overall risk position for internal reporting, and anticipating potential risk appetite breaches and proposing risk mitigation measures to senior management teams.
• Collaborate with Global and Regional risk teams in the development and implementation of global risk initiatives. Work with risk management associates to capture current insurance and market risk management practices and plans, identifying shortfalls and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure coordination between Corporate, Regional, and Local stakeholders on projects and change initiatives.
• Provide assistance and guidance to other team members with data compilation, validation and analysis related to insurance and market risk.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field, FSA or equivalent required, good understanding of asset and liability management.
• 8+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance field with ability to lead on project independently
• Ability to compile, analyze, investigate, refine, and interpret financial data/results and model projections
• Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial concepts, good understanding of key business drivers and the ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
• Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability
• Good oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge
• Good investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well within a broader team environment and participate in department/team projects
• Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
• Good technical skills, spreadsheets and actuarial software (AXIS, or equivalent)
