Job Description - Senior Associate (Checker), Corporate Loans Operations, Technology & Operations

Business Function
Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels.



Responsibilities

Team Management
  • Provide direction by setting Key Performance Indicators for staff and monitor, appraise actual performance against targets
  • Coach and develop subordinates and guide them in completing their responsibilities
  • Promote and encourage open and good communication amongst all levels of staff with care, respect and honesty
  • Attract and select right people for the section and integrate new staff members to fit into DBS values, culture and practices
Loan Processing Team
  • Handle and process to complete loan transactions including syndicated and bilateral loan , i.e. disbursement, repayment, rollover in accordance with the establish processing/control procedures, operating Delegation of Authorization (DoA), service standards
  • Create/delete/maintain details of loans in systems in accordance with approved terms
  • Handle data input, contribution and maintenance for TransUnion (TU) reporting of loan transactions in accordance with the established processing/control procedures, Guidelines of the Sharing and Use of Consumer Credit Data
Project Management Team
  • Liaise and work with Technology to improve and optimize on the use of the Bank's operating systems
  • Manage working relationships with internal/external service partners to ensure that a seamless process flow for loan operations, and to support their initiatives for revenue generation and market share expansion
  • Keep abreast of market, business development and practices and share with members
Process Management
  • Ensure activities of the above are completed as per established procedures, policies and guidelines, within specified standards of quality, agreed service level and industry cut-off time
  • Review, recommend and develop action plan for streamlining operational procedures, increasing productivity, enhancing operational control, achieving resource utilization (for surge of volume) by means of Management Tool Kit (MTK) continuously
  • Recommend and implement appropriate actions in response to regulatory and related developments that impact operation guidelines and procedures
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Adhere, provide guidance and ensure the members/section comply with the rules, guidelines and regulatory requirement of the Bank, HKMA, MAS, etc. pertaining to the operations
  • Comply with UDMA Policy requirement as well as UDMA governance process, control and support tasks, if required
  • Escalate exceptional/outstanding/suspicious transactions to VP, Head of Corporate Loans Operations or ED, Head of IBG Operations and other relevant parties where appropriate for necessarily follow up action per the Enhanced Incident Escalation/Incident Management Policy
Requirement
  • Degree holder, or post-secondary education with relevant working experience
  • At least 6 years of relevant working experience with 2 years' proven track record in managing and leading an operation team of more than 5 members
  • Sound experience of banking operations and practices
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of banking and IT operations and practices
  • Good leadership and management capabilities
  • Strong senses of risk controlling and management
  • Result and customer service oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving skills and negotiation techniques
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical mind and creative thinking
  • Good communications and presentation skills
  • Good PC knowledge and skills
