Senior Change Risk Manager, Markets & Securities Services

Role Profile

The role holder will be a senior member of the Markets & Securities Services Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Change Management function and will be responsible for the assessment and management of change risk for their respective MSS Change portfolio. This role aims to ensure the following:

1. the Change is delivered safely within the risk appetite of the organization, with sufficient transparency and accountability, in line with best practice and in compliance with framework - this is done through programme partnership across asset class/ regions/ reg & control portfolios
2. NFR and Conduct Risks impact of the changes are understood and appropriate controls are implemented before go-live
3. transition to BAU is done in a controlled fashion with limited disruption to HSBC, clients and markets that HSBC operates in
4. Business strategy and business cases (funding demands) proactively address control gaps through transformative endeavour
5. Operational incidents caused due to change execution risk are understood, recorded in Helios, read across and improvements made to prevent reoccurence.

The role will be based in Hong Kong where many of the material projects for the Securities Services business are being run from.

Key responsibilites:

• Identify and engage right role holders to assess the Non Financial Risk arising from change
• Partner with transformation leads to ensure appropriate Controls applied during and after the change
• Track, monitor and report assessments, issues, actions, risks and resolutions
• Ensure change is delivered safely, in accordance to best practice and policy guidelines
• Ensure effectiveness of the change governance, with accountabilities discharged appropriately by key actors
• Ensure impact to Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) due to a change is managed and additional risk is understood, recorded and monitored
• Early warning/ escalation to support transparency and timely decision making to reduce negative consequences.

To be successful you will need:

• Strong risk / control understanding and experience of working with large change and transformation
• Exposure to Markets and Securities Services within 1LOD / 2LOD / 3LOD will be of benefit
• Ability to undertake analysis to perform assessment on initiatives to identify areas of vulnerability in initiatives and drive remediation
• Ability to use judgement and experience to determine how to handle complex requests and varying timescales; make judgements quickly and consistently
• Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language
• Relationship management and collaboration skills: ability to form effective relationships and influence and advise senior business stakeholders
• Interpersonal skills: proven ability to communicate effectively (verbally & written)
• High levels of drive and motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously
• Ability to manage remote team members.
