Job Description - Senior Electrical Commissioning Manager

We seek a Hong Kong-based, highly skilled, and experienced Senior Electrical Commissioning Manager to join our team. 

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in being responsible for projects, managing a team of engineers, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with the NV5 processes/procedures, and helping to grow and develop the business.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Only applicants with Permanent Hong Kong Identity Cards will be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred, but not a must.
  • Good knowledge of Office 365, commissioning software and other relevant engineering tools and software platforms.
  • Extensive commissioning experience within main contractors / subcontractors/ and vendors be seriously considered, we are not only looking for consultant experience.
  • A commitment to staying updated with advancements in electrical engineering, commissioning processes, and industry best practices through ongoing professional development and training.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant Commissioning Experience is required.
  • Data Center Commissioning Experience would be preferred.

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver various commissioning processes depending on the type of project and client [NV5mc / ASHRAE / Data Center Levels], from initial stages to final close out and handover / continuous commissioning.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans for Electrical Systems, ensuring adherence to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and contribute to creating quotations/RFPs for commissioning works.
  • Oversee and, if necessary, write commissioning-focused documentation, including plans, scripts, reports, strategies and method statements.
  • Manage client relationships and ensure overall satisfaction with commissioning processes and outcomes.
  • Independently lead projects of various sizes and types, as required.
  • Supervise and mentor junior/intermediate engineers working on commissioning projects, both directly and indirectly.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and construction checklists, providing feedback related to commissioning works.
  • Attend and oversee factory testing, start-up testing, and site testing.
  • Manage the installation of energy monitoring and fault detection systems.
  • Develop and implement testing strategies and programming.
  • Maintain asset registers and ensure effective delivery of end-user training.
  • Resolve issues and observations related to testing and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of testing and commissioning documents, inline with the project requirements
  • Facilitate lessons learned sessions and implement improvements in commissioning processes.
  • Validate that systems and installations meet project requirements through thorough testing and commissioning.
  • Conduct meetings and workshops related to internal and external commissioning requirements.
  • Utilize various electronic platforms (e.g., Cx Alloy, Facility Grid, Cx Planner) effectively.
  • Oversee the training process and operating and maintenance manuals for building facilities staff.
  • Contribute to reviewing and developing new/existing internal processes, procedures, and standardization within the organization.
  • Liaise effectively with client teams, design teams, contractors/vendors, installation teams, and facility teams.
  • Collaborate with other NV5 companies, such as NV5 International and NV5 Net Zero.
  • Report to the Senior NV5 Mission Critical Team.

  • Client relationship management: Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and delivering high-quality commissioning services to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Conflict resolution skills: Proficiency in managing conflicts and disagreements among team members or stakeholders to maintain project momentum and achieve consensus on commissioning decisions
