Site Reliability Engineer Risk Technology

My client is a 28 billion USD global quantitative hedge fund that applies a scientific, technology-driven approach to investing across all liquid asset classes. They are now seeking a pragmatic and commercially-oriented Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their Risk Technology team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technology background, with specific, essential experience supporting Risk and PnL applications. You will be responsible for prototyping and building scalable solutions, developing automated tests, and managing CI/CD pipelines to ensure a stable and reliable service. A keen interest in automating processes and workflows is critical. In this role, you will liaise with both internal and external teams for the effective management of the firm's Risk Technology stack.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience Level : 3-10 years of software development experience.

• Core Programming : Advanced proficiency in Python with strong object-oriented programming skills.

• Domain Expertise (Essential) : Direct experience with Risk and PnL applications and related infrastructure.

• Cloud & Infrastructure : AWS experience is highly preferred — particularly with services like EKS, EC2, and cloud-native architectures.

• Data Manipulation : Advanced proficiency with pandas DataFrame.

• Front-End (Plus) : UI development experience with Python frameworks (Plotly Dash/Streamlit) is a plus.

• Technical Breadth : Experience with Rest APIs, Containers, Kubernetes, and SQL Server.

• Problem Solving : Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and efficient approach.

• Communication : Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage time effectively.

• Finance Knowledge : Familiarity with finance industry concepts, specifically Risk and PnL.

• Nice to Have : Familiarity with time series data visualization and technologies like InfluxDB, Prometheus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Automation & Tooling : Develop robust automation and analytical tools using advanced Python to capture and investigate data quality issues.

• UI Development : Build and enhance user interfaces using tools like Plotly Dash and/or Streamlit (a plus, not a requirement).

• System Monitoring : Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.

• Cross-Team Collaboration : Collaborate with support, development, and infrastructure teams to improve system reliability.

• Security & Compliance : Ensure security and compliance standards are met.

• Risk & PnL Infrastructure : Support Risk and PnL application infrastructure, which is an essential part of this role. This includes troubleshooting application problems, managing AWS EKS infrastructure issues, and monitoring system health.
