***Software Engineer - HPC Research Platform - Elite Global Hedge Fund - Python / Golang / Distribut

My client is a top-tier, technology-driven quantitative investment firm , operating globally across all liquid asset classes. The firm is known for its scientific approach to investing , where research, data, and engineering sit at the core of the business rather than in support of it. Technology is viewed as a true alpha enabler, and engineers work directly alongside quantitative researchers to solve complex, compute-intensive problems at scale.

They are now expanding their HPC Research Platform team , responsible for building and evolving an in-house platform that underpins large-scale quantitative research across the organisation.

The role

This is a core platform engineering position focused on enabling massive compute workloads for research teams globally. You will work on the systems that provide secure, efficient access to compute and data, supporting everything from job submission and scheduling through to observability and orchestration across heterogeneous environments.

You will collaborate closely with quantitative researchers, infrastructure engineers, and platform teams , helping to shape how computational research is executed at scale.

Key responsibilities

• • Design and build libraries, APIs, services, and systems to meet the compute demands of quantitative researchers
  • Develop software supporting an orchestration-driven approach to managing large compute clusters
  • Contribute to job scheduling, security, monitoring, and observability across HPC environments
  • Partner directly with researchers to ensure the platform enables fast, reliable experimentation
  • Gain exposure to state-of-the-art HPC and research infrastructure in a production environment

What they are looking for

• • Strong software engineer with 5+ years’ experience building production systems
  • Proven experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong Python background; interest in or experience with Go is advantageous
  • Comfortable working in complex, compute-heavy environments
  • Prior exposure to quantitative research or finance is a plus, but not required
  • Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset and willingness to learn
