Strategic Project Specialist, Operations

A well-established international banking group is seeking an Strategic Project Specialist to join its Hong Kong Operations Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive operational excellence, lead strategic system enhancement initiatives, and work closely with regional and Head Office stakeholders on transformation projects.

This position is ideal for banking operations professionals who possess strong project management capabilities and are passionate about process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.

• Assist the Team Head in planning, coordinating, and implementing branch-wide operational and system enhancement initiatives.
• Lead and support operations-related projects, including process optimization, workflow automation, system upgrades, and operational transformation programs.
• Coordinate with Operations, IT, Business Units, overseas offices, and regional/head office stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Organize project meetings, prepare status reports, meeting materials, and management updates.
• Support internal reviews of operational procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
• Prepare operational reports and management information for regulators, Head Office, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide operational support and training to branch users and other business units when required.
• Participate in business continuity planning (BCP), contingency arrangements, and operational risk mitigation initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service quality across banking operations functions.

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 4-10 years of banking operations experience gained within back-office operations functions.
• PMP or other project management/process improvement qualification is highly preferred.
• Proven experience participating in operational change, system enhancement, automation, or transformation projects.
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid frameworks.
• Experience coordinating with regional offices or Head Office stakeholders is highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of core banking systems, workflow automation, robotics process automation (RPA), or digital transformation initiatives will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects within tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese is a MUST).
