Technical Manager (Water Works and Building Safety Enhancement) (Ref. 240607003)
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) co-ordinate and liaise with internal units and external parties including consultants, contractors and relevant government departments to manage and complete two alteration, additions and improvement (AA&I) projects – “Conversion to seawater supply for toilet flushing” and “Improvement of the anchorage system to architectural fins on building facade”;
(b) formulate and implement the plans from the stages of site surveying, design, tender preparation, cost estimation, tendering, tender assessment, budgeting, time management and quality control to works completion;
(c) compile defects lists and arrange defects rectification;
(d) supervise and monitor the work performed by consultants/contractors/service providers;
(e) perform duties outside normal office hours including working on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays when necessary; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Building Surveying, Building Engineering and Management or a related discipline with at least five years of managerial experience in plumbing improvement and facade maintenance/alteration of existing buildings from the design stage to project completion stage as well as defects rectification;
(b) have in-depth and wide knowledge of building regulations and Construction Sites (Safety) Regulation as well as building maintenance management and technology;
(c) have proficient computer skills and experience in Microsoft Office;
(d) possess good communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills; and
(e) have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua.
Preference will be given to those applicants who have working experience with AA&I projects which are funded by the University Grants Committee.

Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
