Trade Surveillance Consultant

The company

A leading financial institution is seeking experienced professionals to support a trade surveillance function within a fast-paced capital markets environment. The team operates across equity trading and compliance oversight, with a strong focus on market integrity and regulatory adherence.

The team

You will join a specialist surveillance and compliance team responsible for reviewing and escalating trading alerts, supporting controls around market abuse, and contributing to a robust review process before matters reach senior compliance stakeholders. The work is being built around a structured infrastructure and model-driven workflow, with an initial quality assurance phase before broader handover.

The role

This is a trade surveillance role focused on equity markets, covering both Level 1 and Level 2 alert review. You will assess alerts carefully and efficiently, provide second-opinion analysis, check for regulatory changes and compliance guideline adherence, and support a multi-layer review process before escalation to senior compliance leadership.

The requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in trade surveillance, equity trading, compliance, or market abuse monitoring.
• Strong experience handling surveillance alerts at both Level 1 and Level 2.
• SMARTS broker experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of equity trade surveillance and market abuse controls.
• Ability to perform careful, automated alert review and second-opinion analysis.
• Experience checking regulatory changes and compliance guidelines.
• Comfortable working in a high-volume environment, around 50 alerts per person per day.
• Available for a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension through the end of the year.
• Based in Hong Kong
