Role Summary

A critical execution trader role within a global long-short investment fund, focusing on trading across multiple Asian and global markets with comprehensive financial instruments.

Company Overview

The company is a global long-short investment fund. The CIO has a strong background and track-record in the Greater China and US market. The investment spectrum includes mainly equities and options, while spanning across exotic derivatives, futures, FX in the global market. The investment approach is a combination of top-down sector value chain analysis and bottom-up company research.

The company has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. We are looking for an execution trader to join its expanding team in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work closely with portfolio manager to execute orders in the global market
2. Best execution of orders as per portfolio manager’s instructions in an accurate, timely and efficient manner. Consider the market order flows, market conditions, liquidities, transaction costs, market impact and portfolio risk
3. Assist portfolio manager to monitor positions, P&L and market risks
4. Provide portfolio manager and the research team with timely market sentiment, stock news, flow colour, price volatilities
5. Manage stock loan book, minimize stock loan expenses and ensure borrow quality
6. Conduct trading performance evaluation including transaction cost analysis (TCA) with brokers on a regular basis
7. Assist operations team to prepare daily reports and ad-hoc projects
8. Maintain good relationship with external counterparties including brokers and vendors

Required Qualifications

1. Degree or above in Mathematics or quantitative related majors (Physics / Accounting / Finance / Economics)
2. 1 to 5 years of trading experience from top tier fund houses or investment banks (Algo Trading / Cash Equity / Delta 1 Desk / Program Trading, etc.)
3. Has experience in trading in markets such as HK, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and US, covering assets including equities (cash & swap), index futures, ETFs, FX, listed & OTC options
4. Experience in brokers' electronic trading platform and good understanding their algorithm suite
5. Proficiency with Bloomberg and Order/Portfolio Management systems

Skills & Competencies

1. Excellent skill with Excel spreadsheet (including VBAs)
2. Experience in programming language and statistical packages (Python/C++/R/MATLAB etc.) is a plus
3. Understanding of market microstructure and be sensitive to macro dynamics and market volatilities
4. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
5. Well organized, highly detail-oriented, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure
6. High degree of personal integrity, reliable and trust-worthy
7. Good team player, articulate, positive attitude towards work and colleagues
8. Must be fluent in Mandarin and English
