Job Description - Trust Manager

Job Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and develop a dynamic portfolio of trusts and private wealth structures, ensuring that each arrangement is administered to the highest standard.
  2. Build and maintain enduring, trusted relationships with clients and their professional intermediaries (lawyers, tax advisors, bankers, asset managers), acting as their primary point of contact for all fiduciary matters.
  3. Actively support the firm’s growth agenda by identifying cross‑selling opportunities, participating in client pitches, and contributing to the onboarding of new mandates.
  4. Collaborate with internal teams to structure tailored solutions that meet client objectives while managing risk.
  5. Review and approve complex transaction documents, board resolutions, and statutory filings, ensuring accuracy, legal compliance, and alignment with best practice.
  6. Provide technical guidance on trust restructurings, asset injections, distributions, variations, and terminations.
  7. Ensure full compliance with internal governance policies, AML/CFT regulations, FATCA/CRS reporting, and other statutory requirements.
  8. Maintain robust oversight of periodic client reviews, transaction monitoring, and record‑keeping, embedding a risk‑aware culture across the team.
  9. Drive continuous improvement in workflows, systems, and operational processes.
  10. Identify inefficiencies and implement practical solutions to enhance productivity, data quality, and service delivery.
  11. Undertake special assignments and strategic initiatives as directed by senior management, including participation in new product development, regulatory change projects, or cross‑border client engagements.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g., STEP, HKCGI) is strongly preferred.
  2. Minimum of7 years of solid, progressive experience in private trust and EBT administration, gained from a reputable bank, professional firm, or law firm.
  3. Deep, hands-on knowledge of family trust and employee benefit trust structures, Hong Kong and offshore company laws, trust legislation, and the latest AML/CFT regulations and financial institution requirements.
  4. Proven track record in handling highly complex, multi-jurisdictional trust structures and sensitive client matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  5. Excellent client relationship and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and advise high-level stakeholders.
  6. Strong leadership qualities: mature, decisive, with exceptional common sense and a collaborative team spirit.
  7. Meticulous, proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a strong appetite for continuous learning and adapting to new challenges.
  8. Resilient and able to thrive under pressure, managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  9. Superior command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin) – native or near-native proficiency preferred.
