As an Assistant Vessel Manager (Electrical), will attend ships as required and work from home. However, AVM (E) must be available via phone, MS Teams, or WhatsApp during normal working hours (0900 – 1800 hrs Hong Kong time). In the event of emergencies or breakdowns, AVM (E) should be prepared to attend calls at odd hours to provide 24/7 support and guidance to the ships, ensuring minimal downtime and off-hire periods.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee the electrical operations of our vessel fleet, focusing on the efficient operation and maintenance of Gantry Cranes, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry regulations. This includes technical oversight, maintenance management, and resource allocation for electrical systems across the fleet.
· Provide technical support and guidance for troubleshooting electrical issues. Work closely with Vessel Managers and equipment manufacturers to reduce Gantry Crane downtime.
· Plan and conduct sailing inspections of Gantry Cranes to assess their current condition.
· Prepare detailed reports highlighting areas for improvement, including short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures to ensure smooth Gantry Crane operations.
· During ship visits, conduct one-on-one training sessions for ETOs/TETOs to enhance their understanding of Gantry Crane operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Identify individual training requirements and include them in your report.
· Prepare appraisal reports for ETOs.
· Review the Gantry Crane spare inventory. Prepare a list of necessary spares for efficient Gantry Crane operation and communicate this to the chief engineer and vessel manager.
· Identify and manage risks associated with electrical equipment obsolescence, recommending upgrades as needed.
· Coordinate with crew and vessel managers to develop and implement maintenance schedules.
· Maintain a concise list of troubleshooting guides for various vessel classes to reduce downtime for recurring issues.
· Conduct root cause analysis for Gantry Crane troubles, prepare corrective and preventive action plans, and implement them across the fleet.
· Review and approve technical documentation related to electrical systems and upgrade plans.
· Assist the vessel manager in the procurement and supply of electrical parts and equipment.
· Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., chief engineer, electrical officer on board ships, vessel manager, equipment manufacturers, repair companies/specialists, and suppliers) to optimize resource allocation and operational efficiency.
· Assist in preparing docking and repair specifications for electrical equipment, especially Gantry Cranes.
· You may be required to visit vessels during dry-docking to oversee electrical repair and maintenance work. Coordinate electrical projects during dry dockings or refits.
· Analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement in electrical system reliability and efficiency.
· Manage the electrical integrity of vessels to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Monitor compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards.
