Job Description - VP, Business Development ESG & Governance Data Solutions

We are proud to be partnering with a leading global provider of ESG intelligence and governance solutions to identify a talented Vice President of Sales for their growing Asia business.

This is a senior individual contributor position suited for an accomplished sales professional with a strong record of driving new business among institutional investors and asset owners across China and the wider Asia ex-Japan region. The role focuses on helping C-suite executives—such as Chief Risk Officers, Chief Strategy Officers, and other senior decision-makers—understand and harness ESG and governance data to strengthen their investment frameworks.

We are looking for a driven hunter with a strategic mindset—someone adept at opening new markets, building executive-level relationships, and turning data into value for complex investors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead business development efforts with institutional investors across Asia ex-Japan, emphasizing new client acquisition and revenue growth.
  2. Build relationships with asset owners, pension funds, insurers, and fund managers to promote ESG, governance, and stewardship solutions.
  3. Translate complex ESG data and analytics into actionable insights for clients.
  4. Identify new market opportunities, craft effective sales strategies, and deliver results against targets.
  5. Coordinate with product, marketing, and global sales teams to align on client needs and market positioning.
  6. Maintain accurate forecasting, reporting, and CRM documentation.

Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years in institutional sales or business development within financial data, ESG analytics, or asset management.
  2. A proven record of success in closing new business and growing client relationships.
  3. Excellent communication and presentation skills with senior stakeholders.
  4. Strong understanding of responsible investment, governance, and stewardship principles preferred.
  5. Fluent English is essential; Mandarin proficiency is a strong advantage.
  6. Highly self-motivated and capable of managing a broad regional remit independently.
