API / DATABASE DEVELOPER

API / DATABASE DEVELOPER – 1-YEAR DIRECT CONTRACT (FINANCIAL SECTOR)

Responsibilities:

Design and develop scalable APIs using best practices and industry standards

Implement secure and efficient data storage and retrieval using Progress SQL database technology

Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to APIs and databases

Document processes, procedures, and code for maintainability and knowledge sharing

Requirements:

3+ years of experience as an API/Database Developer

Proficient in Progress SQL, including querying, schema design, and optimization

Expertise in RESTful API design and development using popular frameworks/languages

Strong understanding of database concepts, data modeling, and relational database management

Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and containerization technologies

Experience with software development life cycle and agile methodologies

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

With good communication skills in both English and Cantonese 

Experience with Progress OpenEdge platform

Knowledge of web services, message queues, and event-driven architectures

Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
