Sourcing Assistant / Sourcing Executive

The role of Wm Morrison (HK) Ltd is to provide the best possible product range of non-food products to its 500 stores, from factories and suppliers globally.

 

Key accountabilities:

• Promptly provide the source and offer in response to the opportunity of the sourcing category to contribute to maximizing the profit contribution to the UK category.
• Execute sourcing strategies that are fully aligned with the needs of the UK customer.
• Conduct store visits to view stock, obtain feedback, and look to enhance sales. Knowledge of UK sales performance, customer profile, and market trend
• Support the sourcing manager and buying team to build a competitive and commercial product range that reflects the design stories delivered to the customer with strong availability.
• Manage end-to-end merchandising activities from buyer's brief to shipment, ensuring meet buyer expectations.
• Manage critical path milestones and act proactively to mitigate or escalate expected delays.
• Organize buying trips to visit suppliers with buyers for product selection.
• Maintain timely commercial awareness of developments within the supply base, gain an understanding of market trends and proactively identify product opportunities.
• Keep updated with what contributes to the quality and the costs of products.
• Led business unit to implement sourcing strategy to deliver all KPIs including shipment and sales participation targets, gaining an understanding of sales, margin performance, and stock analysis.
• Manage the category supply base in line with the corporate supplier program focusing on building relationships with strategic partner suppliers, managing & maintaining core suppliers, and constantly sourcing suppliers. 
• Ensure all suppliers comply with our ethical and technical requirements and that they demonstrate a strong will to improve their factories’ compliance
• Review quotation records and support price negotiations with suppliers to ensure margin objectives are met.
• Develop and maintain transparent and honest relationships with suppliers, based on trust and respect and in full compliance with “Morrisons’ ways of working with suppliers”.
• Monitor suppliers’ performance through the supplier scorecard program.

 

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of relevant experience in the buying office 
• A clear understanding of UK Market trends
• Strong product development skills to build product ranges for buyer selection
• Strong knowledge of production processes, techniques, and product components 
• A clear understanding of how to serve customer needs and requirements
• Spoken and written fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
• The ability to work independently with overseas buyers, suppliers, and factories
• Numerical skills to cope with numbers by identifying, formulating, and solving quantifiable business issues
• An advantage for related work experience in Beauty, Pets, Electrical, and Household categories
• Candidates with less experience will be considered as Sourcing Assistant
