ESF Kennedy School occupies a pleasant location on the west of Hong Kong Island. It benefits from the use of the swimming and sporting facilities of The University of Hong Kong’s Stanley Ho Sports Centre, which is adjacent to the school. Music, Performing Arts and Physical Education are strengths of the school. A strong interest in environmental and ecological issues is also a theme of the learning.

Kennedy School is a 5-form entry primary school. We follow the IB PYP Curriculum providing outstanding education to 900 students representing a diverse range of nationalities. Kennedy provides a modern liberal international-style education to all of its students. Besides the usual curriculum subject areas, all children receive a daily Chinese lesson (Mandarin).

Standards and expectations at Kennedy School are high. The curriculum offered is aligned to the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme philosophy and framework. This involves an inquiry-based, investigative style of teaching and learning alongside a balanced delivery of core skills in literacy and numeracy.

The teaching staff are well qualified, experienced and work closely with colleagues within Kennedy School and across other ESF schools. Staff-pupil relationships are excellent and are based on a strong sense of mutual respect. Central to the life of the school, is a positive community spirit and strong partnerships with parents.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Kennedy School is inviting applications for a part-time Educational Assistant on a temporary basis. The position will be from 19 Aug to 27 Sept 2024 and works 17.5 hours per week.

The responsibilities are to :

• Support the students and their learning in class.
• Work with children in small groups.
• Work with students who need additional support or have specific learning needs.
• Assist the teachers with some administrative or preparatory tasks.
• Supervise the children during play and lunchtime.

Requirements

• A good command of written and spoken English.
• Sound behaviour management skills.
• Enjoys working in a team.
• Flexible and uses initiative.
• Previous experience of working with children is an advantage.

The successful applicant will be offered a temporary contract.

Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
