About the role
As a Mid-Level PHP Developer, you’ll be part of a high-performing engineering squad (6–8 engineers, QEs, PO, and DM) contributing to the development and maintenance of modern Laravel-based services. You’ll deliver production-ready features, work with APIs and integrations, and ensure code quality through testing and best practices.
This opportunity begins as a 3-month, high-impact project where you’ll deliver real value from day one. For strong performers, it’s also a pathway to a long-term contract of up to 2 years — giving you the best of both worlds: the excitement of an immediate challenge and the stability of extended career growth
This role requires someone comfortable working on relatively new codebases (<18 months old) that were originally built by an external agency, with limited documentation. To succeed, you’ll need a collaborative mindset, strong accountability, and the ability to write maintainable, well-tested code in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code using Laravel, Eloquent, and DTOs.
- Implement and test RESTful APIs and Auth0 integrations across multiple repositories.
- Contribute to code quality and observability through unit and feature tests, SonarLint/SonarQube, and Datadog logging/metrics.
- Work closely within a squad to refine user stories, share knowledge, and support teammates.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, raising blockers early, and ensuring delivery aligns with coding standards.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience as a PHP Developer.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Laravel Framework, building web applications.
- Familiarity with Laravel features such as Use Cases, Traits, and Service Container (Dependency Injection).
- 2+ years of experience with Eloquent ORM and DTO patterns, structuring clean data transfer between layers.
- 1+ year of practical experience with PHPUnit, writing and maintaining unit tests.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills: open to feedback, shares updates in stand-ups, and documents work as needed.
- Comfortable working on new codebases with limited documentation.
Nice to have
- Experience with RESTful APIs and distributed integration patterns (e.g. Saga), including Auth0 identity management.
- Exposure to AWS Cloud Services (e.g. EC2, S3, Lambda).
- Familiarity with Terraform and Octopus Deploy for infrastructure as code and automated deployments.
- Experience with SonarLint/SonarQube and Datadog for improving code quality and observability.
- A proactive and quality-driven mindset, with curiosity to explore new tools and best practices.
