OPERATIONS MANAGER
COLUMBIA CITY, IN – COLUMBIA CITY PLANT

A wonderful career opportunity awaits you in Columbia City, Indiana!  Lear Corporation’s Seating Division, just a few miles from both Fort Wayne and Warsaw, Indiana, is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join their Leadership Team. 

This position will primarily direct and coordinate activities of the entire Production Department in processing materials and/or products in the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

This role is part of the Production Department and reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Duties to include:

  • Oversees internal audit of assigned operations; analyzes procedures and determines that the plant operates in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Leads, motivates, and manages plant operations personnel to create a high-performance work team environment.
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels to assure productivity and cost goals are met.
  • Identifies, directs, and manages continuous cost improvement initiatives.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Provides advice and consultation to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of modifications and enhancements to existing operations, systems, and procedures.
  • Analyzes operational and administrative systems throughout the organization and develops integrated reports used to evaluate operational/administrative effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Researches and analyzes best methods and practices relative to achievement of specified unit goals and operating objectives; designs and develops alternative systems and procedures, as appropriate to the objectives of the unit.
  • Consults, interacts, or collaborates with senior management, other internal/external staff, and/or consultants to facilitate the successful and procedures, and to ensure the implementation and administration of program objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with all Safety, Quality, Company, and Regulatory directives.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Company objectives by ensuring that product is produced to meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Ensure that prompt corrective action is taken whenever hazards are recognized, or unsafe acts are observed.

Your Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in a plant operations leadership role.
  • Knowledge of the customer requirements, release systems, and production control systems.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just-in-time, and self-directed teams.
  • Knowledge of process efficiency as needed to make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and the coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of labor, safety, and product related state and federal regulations and practices.

Bonus If You Have:

  • Previous experience as an operations manager in a JIT environment.
  • Previous experience as an operations manager in a seat assembly manufacturing plant
