Ot Technician

Overview:

As an OT Technician you will play a crucial role in assisting with occupational therapy procedures and ensuring the smooth operation of medical equipment in the rehabilitation department. You will work closely with occupational therapists to provide essential support in delivering patient care and maintaining the therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing treatment areas for patient therapy sessions.
• Support patients during therapy exercises and activities.
• Operate and maintain various medical equipment used in occupational therapy.
• Ensure cleanliness organization and safety of therapy spaces and equipment.
• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
• Assist in the implementation of therapeutic treatment plans under the guidance of occupational therapists.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and patients to coordinate care activities.
• Participate in patient education and provide support with adaptive devices and equipment.
• Contribute to the evaluation and documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes.
• Adhere to established protocols for infection control and sterilization procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to occupational therapy services.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and relevant regulations.
• Contribute to maintaining a positive patientcentered care environment.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
• Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Technician (COT/OT Tech).
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and common occupational therapy procedures.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining occupational therapy equipment.
• Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and assist patients as needed.
• Willingness to maintain continuing education and stay abreast of industry advances.
• Current CPR certification preferred.
• Ability to adapt to changing work demands and prioritize tasks effectively.
