Job Description - PMO (EMP Lead)

Team Function

The Transformation and Change Division with Davies Group is responsible for the successful delivery of group wide Programmes and Projects. The PMO function sits within the Transformation and Change Division, providing a pivotal role in optimising Programme and Project delivery for the organisation through its wide range of services including Centre of Excellence and Delivery Assurance.

Summary of  the job

The Product Owner is responsible for leading the development of tooling within the Transformation and Change division. Primarily responsible for the development and utilisation of the Strategic Portfolio Management tool. The successful Product Owner will join the team to help drive the product strategy and develop the product roadmap. You will work closely with the divisional leads to ensure that product objectives are met, and the product(s) are continually improved.

T his role sits within the Centre or Excellence service within the group PMO which is responsible for defining and embedding best practice tools and methodology within the organisation. Providing internal consultancy, managing the P3M knowledge and skills, driving value through excellence and standardisation. Although this role is primarily focussed on Product Owner responsibilities, as a small team this role would support all areas of the centre of excellence.

Role tasks

  • Working closely with the senior leaders and key team members to craft and deliver stories that ultimately help us to achieve our aims and objectives. 
  • Own your own backlog, agree priorities, and ensure that the backlog is ordered correctly. 
  • Take an active role in assisting the senior leaders with the product/service life cycle – involved in planning, process design, deployment, and benefits realization. 
  • Work closely with key team members to understand required changes, facilitate communication between the team and the other interested parties and ensure the team is directed to work on the most cost-effective tasks. 
  • Create user stories to breakdown features and epics into end-to-end functionality. 
  • Create user story acceptance criteria using the Given-When-Then Gherkin format
  • Work with the team to develop UI/UX wireframes and prototypes, ensuring a user-centred design approach.
  • Provide support and resilience cover as needed across the PMO service areas.
  • Promote the tool(s) and drive utilisation.
  • Work with the wider PMO team to continually improve processes, identifying automation opportunities and building out training plans.

  • Personal Development : Is open to learning and demonstrates learning, including CPD.
  • Software: Intermediate level Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiar with Microsoft Teams and process mapping software.
  • Previous relevant experience in PMO management / similar role
  • Significant experience working with ServiceNow PPM Enterprise Project management tools and implementing project management best practice methodology.

Desirable:

  • Training / qualifications: MSP, P30, MoP, MoR or equivalent
  • Software experience: SharePoint, Power BI, Azure Dev Ops,
  • Project Management training / certification such as Prince 2, PMP and CSM or equivalent
