Senior Concept Artist

Job Description:

As a Senior Concept Artist specializing in game characters, you will be at the forefront of character creation, props, dynamic environment including assets, playing a pivotal role in developing our next generation of iconic game characters. Your expertise will drive the visual development of compelling, diverse, and dynamic characters that resonate with players and elevate our games to new heights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the creation and iteration of character concepts and props, including sketches, detailed illustrations, and character sheets.
• Skilled in crafting immersive and dynamic game environments and assets
• Collaborate closely with the art director, game designers, and narrative teams to align character concepts with game lore, gameplay mechanics, and overall visual style.
• Conduct thorough research and develop innovative character designs that reflect diverse cultures, personalities, and backstories.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior concept artists, fostering a collaborative and inspiring art department.
• Stay ahead of industry web-3 trends in character design and share insights and inspirations with the team.
• Participate in reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to continuously improve the quality of character designs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Art, Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Concept Artist, with a strong portfolio showcasing character designs in various styles.
• Exceptional drawing and illustration skills, with a deep understanding of human and creature anatomy, proportions, and visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in digital painting tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Painter, or equivalent.
• Character animation basics to aid in designing characters that are not only visually compelling but also functional within a game environment.
• Familiarity with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity, including how assets are imported and used within these environments.
• Awareness of asset optimization for games, ensuring that character designs are feasible within the technical constraints of the project.
• Strong collaborative skills and experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
• A passion for games and a deep understanding of game design principles.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate visual concepts and strategies.
