Senior Construction Manager

Job Location: Cape Town, South Africa

We are providing the sponsorship for employment visa status in South Africa.

Summary:

The Senior construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing solar panel installations, ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget, and that all necessary permits and certifications are obtained. They will also be responsible for ensuring safety and quality standards are met, communicating effectively with Management and project teams, and troubleshooting issues that arise during installations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise solar installers, technicians, and subcontractors for solar installation projects to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Estimate materials, equipment, and personnel needed for residential or commercial solar installation projects.
  • Prepare solar installation project proposals, quotes, budgets, or schedules.
  • Plan and coordinate installations of photovoltaic (PV) solar systems to ensure conformance to codes.
  • Monitor the work of contractors and subcontractors to ensure projects conform to plans, specifications, schedules, or budgets.
  • Assess potential solar installation sites to determine feasibility and design requirements.
  • Evaluate subcontractors or subcontractor bids for quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Responsible for managing a team of Team lead, Engineers, Supervisors, and technicians to supervise the work and ensure the successful deliverables assigned to them.
  • Responsible for forecasting of Resource requirements for the planned and assigned work given to the EPC contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Prepare solar installation project proposals, quotes, budgets, or schedules.
  • Responsible to Analyze and assess the risk factors involved during the execution of work and report the same to EPC Head/Project Head.
  • Responsible for Quality of construction and workmanship from all the contractors.
  • Preparing a daily report on the work progress and plan for the next day schedule
  • Aligning the roles and responsibilities of the MSC teams to achieve the effective result.
  • Responsible for effectively monitoring the EPC’s compliance with the schedule and budget and raising any non-compliance once approved by the Construction Head/EPC Head, to the EPC.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in renewable energy, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 8-10 years Experience as lead or Site Management in the Execution of Large-Scale MW Solar PV Projects/Conventional Power plants.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of solar energy systems, installation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical and hand tools
  • Experience with solar panel installations or related industries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and follow plans and schematics.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to sustainability and quality in solar operations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
