The Senior Manager / Design Director is the north star of a critical segment of the design team, guiding, inspiring, and aligning efforts towards delivering outstanding user experiences while keeping a keen eye on business objectives. Combining a profound knowledge of design craftsmanship with strategic business insights, they play a pivotal role in elevating the design's impact across the organisation. With their leadership, the design transcends aesthetics and becomes a vital business driver.

Responsibilities & Considerations:

Strategic Design Vision & Alignment:

Set a forward-thinking design strategy aligned with business goals, ensuring design remains a key differentiator and value driver.

Team Collaboration & Alignment :

Ensure that Design Leads collaborate effectively, focusing on consistent, superior outcomes across all products and experiences.

Design Excellence Reviews:

Conduct regular design reviews, offering constructive feedback and showcasing exemplary design to inspire the team and set quality benchmarks.

Partner with Senior Leadership:

Collaborate closely with Senior Design, Product, and Engineering leaders to ensure the design's voice is prominently featured in strategic decisions.

Efficiency & Effectiveness:

Work in tandem with Design Leads to streamline processes, ensuring that the design team operates efficiently without compromising on output quality

Mentorship & Growth:

Foster professional development within the team, ensuring that designers, leads, and managers continually refine their skills and expand their horizons.

Business Acumen & Advocacy:

Understand the intricacies of the business and advocate for the pivotal role design can play in achieving business objectives.

Tech Nuances & Adaptation:

Grasp the subtleties of technology, ensure design decisions consider tech constraints and possibilities, and promote a culture of embracing technological change.

Facilitation & Communication:

Lead workshops, meetings, and discussions, ensuring clarity, consensus, and alignment among stakeholders and the design team

Courageous Leadership:

Challenge norms and existing solutions confidently, providing constructive criticism and pushing boundaries, but do so with empathy and a deep understanding of team dynamics.
