Head of Enterprise Edge Services

Job Description:

• Head of Enterprise Edge Services will be responsible for heading the largest pharma Enterprise Edge platforms including Data centres, compute, Data management & storage technologies.

• In collaboration with the relevant stakeholders, define the vision and drive all aspects of the Enterprise Edge Strategy, ensuring that technology-based solutions and services are fully supported by the right architectures, systems and operating models.

• Accountable for Global largest pharma Enterprise Edge Services, Projects, Operations, Security and budget.

• Partner with cross technology teams to deliver the innovation, development and deployment of new Enterprise technology solutions providing strong leadership and senior level advocacy for their delivery.

• Partner with the line of business to understand evolving work trends in design, engineering and modelling applications which need to be supported by the underlying infrastructure.

- Hybrid work mode will apply (3 days WFO per week)

Technologies Landscape: Edge computing platforms, Edge analytics and processing, Edge devices, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), IoT platforms and frameworks, Container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), Serverless platforms, CI/CD pipelines and automation tools, Server virtualization, Compute ( Wintel/AIX/Linux), Database (SQL/Oracle/Postgress), Citrix, Storage/Backup and Middleware

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for the Enterprise Edge Services budget and capacity planning: Manage budget spends on vendors of all Enterprise Edge, Compute & Datacentre services. Oversee and authorise invoices from 3rd parties, contractors and additional spending.

• Work jointly with Group procurement and Finance teams to challenge vendor costs, and make recommendations for contract changes, renegotiations, and vendor replacements to continually improve value to the business.

• Manage vendor relationships, to ensure that the vendor portfolio meets largest pharma needs. Complete vendor service reviews, evaluating and selecting new vendors, and make recommendations for strategic vendor decisions.

• Drive contract and service agreement renegotiations, to ensure that vendors always provide the best possible value to largest pharma.

• Conduct monthly roadmap reviews with relevant service managers and Senior Leadership team represents, communicating on project health status, milestones, issues and budget.

• Work closely with Information Security, to ensure that largest pharma Infrastructures are maintained in a highly secure state, and that operating procedures and methods are best suited to maintain security of the company Infrastructure.

• Act as the subject matter expert on Enterprise Infrastructure technology and services matters, challenging and coaching service managers, thriving to exceed Service Level Objectives and delivering outstanding value to the business.

• Manage the largest pharma Infrastructure and take accountability for the worldwide service.

• Ensure all Infrastructure service outages are restored in a timely manner and abide by the fix once principles.

• Guide the team in Program and Project Management to ensure delivery against Enterprise Edge Services team annual strategic roadmap objectives.

• Coach the team to see the 'big picture' as well as the details and to be able to tie technical initiatives to corporate goals.

• Work closely with respective Product/Platform Leads to ensure that designs are properly thought through in a timely manner as necessary for project deliveries.

• Assume technical lead role during outage management; monitor functions and coordinate inter-team corrective actions; assists team members with problem resolution and communicate with stakeholders.

• Drive continual service improvement initiatives aimed at improving service quality, IT and business and outcomes.

• Maintaining a strong understanding of the latest Industry/Technology trends and promote platform ways of working.

• Exhibiting a keen eye for anticipating future trends and ensuring largest pharma are early adopters as appropriate.

Management:

• Overall management responsibilities for Enterprise Edge, Computer & storage engineering and reliability (operations) teams.

• Lead and manage the complete Edge Infrastructure Services function to ensure a coordinated, user orientated service.

• Manage vendor relationships by communicating effectively, holding vendors accountable, and cultivating a positive working relationship.

• Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organisation.

• Work with product leads and other key stakeholders in ensuring that strategy and execution are in line with the plan for sustainability, scalability, and product development goals.

• Manage the team, carrying out recruitment activities, whilst providing appropriate training, mentoring and challenging them to grow and develop in their roles.

• Drive the adoption of right sourcing strategy, software defined everything and automation

• Manage the budget for Infrastructure Services including reporting and forecasting

• Demonstrated management experience of matrix and multicultural teams over several continents.

Technology Competencies And Personal Characteristics:

• Minimum 15 years of relevant working experience, with the last 5 years in large-scale collaboration architecture design, deployment, integration and implementation.

• Excellent communications skills, with the ability to explain complex technological ideas and concepts in a way that is understandable to a non-technical audience.

• Confident presenter who likes to get in front of customers or any audience to espouse their and the company’s technology vision and the merits of products and services.

• Experience of formulating and implementing successful strategic plans in alignment with our security and sustainability strategy.

• Experience working with Senior IT leadership in a strategic context.

• Ability to build and maintain partnerships.

• Significant experience working with vendors, professional services, and providers.

• Ability to manage and motivate people.

• Encourages the personal development of individuals and teams aligned with the strategy.

• Understanding of Infrastructure patterns and approaches

• Bring Automation first mindset.

• Must have in-depth and technical hands-on experience in Enterprise Edge, Compute, Database, Backup & Storage and Datacentre technoligies

• Strong technical knowledge in high availability design, implementation, optimization and operations.

• Candidate with large enterprise working experience is an added advantage.
