Job title: DTP Operator (FMCG Packaging)

Job Summary:

The DTP Operator plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of packaging artwork for FastMoving Consumer Goods (FMCG) products. This role involves utilizing design software to create edit and manipulate packaging layouts while adhering to brand guidelines and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Create and modify packaging layouts according to design specifications and brand guidelines.

Prepare artwork files for printing including prepress checks and ensuring highresolution graphics.

Maintain a digital library of packaging assets (logos fonts images) for easy access and consistency.

Liaise with designers and prepress departments to clarify requirements and troubleshoot issues.

Work within deadlines to ensure timely delivery of packaging artwork for production.

Maintain accurate records of artwork versions and revisions.

Perform basic image editing and manipulation for packaging elements.

Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient DTP workflows.

Assist with maintaining DTP software and hardware.

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design Packaging Design or a related field (Preferred).

Experience: 12 years of experience in DTP for the FMCG packaging industry (Preferred).

Skills:

Proficient in DTP software (Corel draw Adobe InDesign Illustrator Photoshop).

o

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

o

Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.

o

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

o

Basic understanding of prepress procedures and printing processes.

Knowledge:

o

Working knowledge of FMCG packaging design principles.

o

Familiarity with brand guidelines and design terminology.

o

Understanding of colour theory and typography.

Additional Desirable Skills:

Experience in working with a Content Management System (CMS) for packaging assets.

Knowledge of variable data printing (VDP) concepts for packaging.

Proficiency in basic image editing and manipulation techniques.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Certifications:

DTP software certification (e.g. Corel draw Adobe Certified Professional InDesign Illustrator Photoshop).

Prepress or printing industry certifications (e.g. G7 Expert).
