Clinical Genetics Liaison

Duties

• Interview patients to get comprehensive individual family and medical histories
• Evaluate genetic information to identify patients or families at risk for specific genetic disorders
• Write detailed consultation reports to provide information on complex genetic concepts for patients or referring physicians
• Discuss testing options and the associated risks, benefits, and limitations with patients, families, and other healthcare providers
• Counsel patients and family members by providing information, education, or reassurance regarding genetic risks and inherited conditions
• Participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in genetics and genomics

Others

• Assist and support healthcare providers in the identification and implementation of best diagnostic testing strategies and understanding of test results for patients with genetic syndromes
• Provide ongoing education for healthcare providers in order to increase access to genetic and personalized medicine tests for appropriate patients
• Support Business Development/Pharma team in the field with implementation and follow up of new opportunities
• Optimize internal and external workflow and increase customer satisfaction
• Serve as an educational and medical resource for the regional Sales team and support the Marketing team, product managers and other internal teams at CENTOGENE as needed
• Deliver clinical and scientific presentations, case studies and best practice references to healthcare practitioners and community groups on various topics as needed
• Work collaboratively with the regional sales/business development team to create and implement educational strategies for key accounts about genetic testing, our products and services
• Research new information and determine how it can be utilized with customers/partners
• Actively facilitate Speaker Trainings and KOL meetings
• Actively participate in meeting with relevant national and regional organizations on behalf of CENTOGENE, by giving scientific presentations, meeting with potential collaborators, and giving feedback to the organization about landmark sessions
• Recognize and communicate emerging national trends relevant to CENTOGENE’s products and disseminate knowledge appropriately
• Provide information to health care providers (remote and in-person) as needed
• Assist in the development and communication of new clinical evidence-based information to providers in close collaboration with the Marketing team and product managers • Respond to Sales team requests for information or client support
• Proactively identify clinical needs of the regional Sales team and provide remote or in-person education
• Attend and support the regular regional Sales team calls/meetings
• Position requires ~2-3 days of field travel and 2 days at company office/regional office/home office to debrief previous meetings, support other clients, prepare for future client interactions
• 3 weeks per month related to diagnostic sales and 1 week per month dedicated to the pharma sector
• Function as a resource and active participant for market intelligence within the specific region for product development and launch
• Interact with other departments within CENTOGENE (i.e. Medical Support, Reporting, Diagnostic Processes, Bioinformatics, Marketing, etc.)

Requirements

• A qualified and experienced genetic counsellor
• 2+ years of genetics counselling experience, preferably in sales, marketing and/or lab area
• Good understanding of clinical genetics and the latest genetic testing technologies (exome, genome sequencing)
• Experience working within the genetic diagnostic or biotechnology area as a Medical Advisor or similar role providing scientific/medical support
• Excellent presentation and teaching skills to represent CENTOGENE in a professional manner at medical, scientific and public events
• Strong commercial orientation and excellent analytical and communication skills
• Team player who enjoys working in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment
• Excellent English skills both oral and written
