Job Description - Specialist, Logistic III

Job Purpose

A Planning and Logistic Specialist is a professional who specializes in overseeing and managing the planning and logistics operations within an organization. This role typically involves developing strategies to optimize supply chain processes, coordinating transportation and distribution activities, managing inventory levels, and ensuring efficient delivery of goods or services to customers. The Planning and Logistic Principal Specialist plays a crucial role in streamlining operations, reducing costs, improving efficiency, and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.

Key Accountabilities

  • Developing long-term plans to optimize logistics operations and meet organizational goals.
  • Overseeing the end-to-end supply chain process, from procurement to delivery.
  • Monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand, and ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Coordinating transportation services to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Establishing relationships with vendors and negotiating contracts for goods and services.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in logistics processes and implementing solutions and assessing potential risks in the supply chain and developing contingency plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

Technical Expertise

  • Effectively applies planning methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Identifies risks and ensures operational impacts are minimized.
  • Ensures QA/QC programs are effectively established.

Cost Control and Budget Plans

  • Manages production planning against budget, forecast schedules and project control budgets.
  • Monitors overall project costs vs. budget including consultants, contractors / labor, materials and all other costs.
  • Analyze workforce requirements, overtime and other variable operational expenses.
  • Reports on cost variances with reasons and recommended corrective actions.
  • Ensures corrective actions are carried out.
  • Assist Leadership Team in reviewing budgets, reviewing expenses, cutting costs, monitoring inventory, and constantly exploring new ways to increase profitability.

Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Directs the development and implementation of policies, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of Production Planning at MWSPC Plant sites to ensure all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering the appropriate quality and targeted objectives in a cost-effective manner.
  • Establish Production Planning Services level agreements with other customers.
  • Provides clear knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines within industries to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and organizations.

Health, Safety and Environmental

  • Promote a culture of 'Safety First' as reflected by low accident and incident rates.
  • Ensure implementation of the operational HSE Management System to ensure all MWSPC staff observes standard HSE processes and operating procedures.
  • Ensures that all personnel and contractors are fully briefed and trained on MWSPC's HSE regulations and adhere with them.
  • Ensure activities are carried out to minimize environmental impacts in accordance with legislation, agreements, conditions and corporate standards.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in business management or engineering discipline - preferably in supply chain, operations, engineering, or related.

Experience and Qualifications:

Min 2 years of experience in production planning or leadership role in a manufacturing environment; Knowledge and understanding of inventory management and marketplace demographics.

Skills:

Management skills, budgeting, planning, negotiating and forecasting skills.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Capacity to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details to ensure accuracy in planning and execution.
  • Proficiency in managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Capability to negotiate contracts with vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in English required,
  • Extensive computer skills in using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) plus other software pertinent to the work performed would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and foster a cooperative team environment.
  • International work experience in remote camp environment.
