Job Description - Assistant Manager/Manager

Position Summary

The Sales Assistant Manager/Manager's main goal is to increase the sales / business development and improve the customer service function of the branch for the Ocean, Air and Project Cargo forwarding Business. The incumbent will be responsible for the growth of local sales for his/her branch. (Locations - Mumbai/Chennai/Kolkata)

Major responsibilities

  • Responsible for sales and business development duties including increasing profit.
  • Responsible for managing and growing local sales, deep selling current local customer base.
  • Responsible for selling logistics solutions to customers.
  • Maintain CRM per Company policy.
  • Responsible for creating new business through contact with prospective customers in the assigned market.
  • Responsible for identifying the competitive service strengths and weakness of the company and making recommendations to constantly improve.
  • Responsible for reviewing and reporting monthly performance.
  • Responsible for other duties including: sales presentations, writing sales proposals, implementation, creating and adding to existing marketing materials.
  • Responsible for managing the customer support / service function to external customers.
  • Responsible for credit management of customers.
  • Responsible for identifying market trends and competitive rate actions and communicating those trends to the Project Group.
  • Locate areas of improvement and propose corrective actions that meet challenges and leverage growth opportunities.
  • Adhere to high ethical standards and comply with all regulations / applicable laws.
  • Network to improve the presence and reputation of branch and company.
  • Stay abreast of competing markets and provide reports on market movement and penetration.

Requirements for the position

7. Ability and experience in managing others and prioritizing work

8. Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Qualification

1. University Qualification: Bachelor’s degree of equivalent experience highly preferred

2. Nature and length of previous experience: 5 – 8 years of management experience required in sales / customer service, preferably in Freight Forwarding or Project Logistics.

3. Specialist knowledge: Experience in industry with sales and business development required.

4. Ocean, Air and Project Cargo forwarding sales experience highly preferred.

5. Experience with writing professional sales proposals and standard operation procedures highly preferred.
