Job Description - Assistant Manager Food Safety

1.Food Safety Management System (FSMS)
Implement and maintain HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety Management Systems
Ensure compliance with FSSAI, BRC, ISO 22000, and customer standards
Drive continuous improvement in food safety processes
Ensure adherence to company food safety policies and procedures


2. Audits & Compliance
Lead and support:
Internal audits
External audits (BRC, ISO, regulatory, customer audits)
Ensure closure of non-conformances (NCRs) with corrective and preventive actions
Act as a point of contact during inspections


3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain and update:
SOPs, work instructions, and food safety manuals
Generate periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, yearly) on food safety KPIs
Analyse trends and recommend corrective actions


4. Risk Management & RCA
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for:
Food safety incidents
Customer complaints
Implement CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions)
Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions


5. Training & Culture Building
Conduct training on:
HACCP
GMP
Allergen management
Hygiene practices
Promote a strong food safety culture across plant employees


6. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with:
Production
Quality Assurance
R&D
Supply Chain
Support new product launches ensuring food safety compliance.


7. Supplier & Raw Material Compliance
Ensure raw materials meet defined food safety specifications
Coordinate with suppliers and procurement for compliance
Support supplier audits and approvals


8. Regulatory & Customer Compliance
Stay updated with:
Indian regulations (FSSAI)
Global standards (in exports)
Ensure plant readiness for customer requirements and certifications
