Job Description - Assistant Manager - NPI & Engineering

  • Lead technical evaluation of customer RFQs for PCBA, Box Build, and System Integration projects for different segments (Aerospace, Medical , Industrial and Automotive )
  • Perform product feasibility studies considering manufacturing capability, tooling and process limitations.
  • Prepare technical feasibility reports highlighting manufacturing risks, assumptions, and mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Program Management, Process Engineering, Procurement, and Quality during RFQ evaluation.
  • Participate in customer technical discussions to clarify product requirements and manufacturing expectations.
  • Review customer documentation (BOM, Gerber, PCB drawings, Assembly Drawings, Schematics)
  • Prepare engineering documentation for production release
  • Perform product feasibility studies.
  • Conduct manufacturing risk assessments.
  • Resolve technical issues during production.
  • Support engineering change implementation (ECO/ECN).
  • Validate alternate components.
  • Maintain product documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assess manufacturability of complex PCBAs and Box Build assemblies.
  • Conduct DFM, DFA, and DFT reviews to identify design improvements before production.
  • Evaluate special manufacturing processes such as:
    • Press-fit assembly
    • Selective soldering
    • Wave soldering
    • Resistance soldering
    • Laser marking
    • Potting
    • Underfill
    • Conformal coating
    • Torque-controlled assembly
  • Recommend process improvements to optimize quality, cost, and cycle time.      
  • Prepare manufacturing cost estimates for new products.
  • Estimate Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs, including:
    • Tooling and fixtures
    • Stencils
    • Test fixtures
    • Programming
    • Process development
    • Documentation
    • Qualification builds
  • Estimate product cycle times for SMT, THT, Box Build, Test, Conformal Coating, Potting, Underfill, and Final Assembly.
  • Support quotation preparation by providing accurate manufacturing assumptions and engineering estimates.
  • xperience supporting products from prototype through mass production.
  • Hands-on exposure to Medical, Industrial, Aerospace & Defense electronic products.
  • Experience managing First Article Inspection (FAI), including customer submissions and qualification builds.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT, THT, Box Build, Test Engineering, and high-reliability manufacturing processes.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers during technical reviews, NPI kick-offs, design reviews, and manufacturing readiness assessments.

    • 7–8 years of experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS).
    Proven experience in handling RFQs, feasibility studies, NRE estimation, and manufacturing cycle time estimation for PCBA and Box Build projects.
