Assistant Manager - Pigment and Paste

Support the local Pigment & Paste Owner in managing and executing pigment and paste-related activities in India. The role focuses on operational support, coordination, data transparency, and implementation of agreed actions across production, C-Labs, procurement, and suppliers, contributing to robust quality, cost competitiveness, and sustainable local operations.

Support to Pigment & Paste Ownership

• Support the local Pigment & Paste Owner in day-to-day pigment and paste activities in India including root causes investigation.


• Prepare analyses, reports, and documentation to support decision-making within the PSM framework

Operational & Cross‑functional Coordination

• Support alignment of Indian pigment and paste activities with global PSM processes and standards


• Coordinate with production, C-Labs, procurement, and suppliers on agreed activities and follow‑ups


• Follow action items, milestone related to pigment and paste topics

Pigment Paste Localization & optimization (Support Role)

• Support pigment paste localization projects, including testing coordination, data collection, and documentation


• Support implementation and follow-up of agreed optimization measures together with production and lab teams

Consolidation & Transparency

• Support pigment and paste consolidation activities in India based on defined transparency frameworks


• Maintain and update local overviews of pigment toolbox, paste portfolio, and intermediates


• Identify consolidation opportunities and escalate improvement proposals to the Pigment & Paste Owner

EHS & Compliance

• Support adherence to EHS requirements in labs and operational activities within the scope of responsibility


• Assist in audit preparation and follow-up actions to ensure compliance with BASF standards

• R&D Budget/Spend (Pigment and Paste Team India)

Education

Master degree in Chemistry or comparable discipline or equivalent education in a technical discipline

Working Experience

10-15 years in a Pigment or SB - Paste or SB - Coatings related area, wide experience in Pigment surface technology, Pigment processing and manufacturing technology

Technical & Professional Knowledge/Others

Knowledge of Pigments and SB - Pigment preparations, the production process of pigment preparations for SB formulations as well as basic know how about SB - coatings material technology. Experienced in communication within international teams.
