Job Description - Assistant Manager - Strategy, Distribution

Job Summary
To support the Distribution Strategy team by driving business analytics, performance reporting, competitive intelligence, and strategic project execution. The role will be responsible for generating actionable insights, maintaining key business dashboards, and supporting strategic initiatives across Distribution, Sports, Automation, and VAS.

Key Responsibilities

1. BARC Analytics & Business Insights

  • Own and manage weekly Reach Dashboards, Key Highlights reports, and other recurring business performance trackers.
  • Analyze BARC viewership data to monitor channel, genre, audience, and market performance trends across the network.
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations based on viewership trends, content performance, distribution dynamics, and competitive movements.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and prepare business reviews to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Develop presentations and performance reports for leadership and key stakeholders.

2. Channel Business Support (Entertainment and Sports)

  • Partner with Entertainment and Sports channel teams to support distribution-related business objectives.
  • Respond to stakeholder queries related to distribution metrics, viewership performance, and competitive developments.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of channels and marquee properties across viewership, reach, subscriber, and distribution metrics.
  • Identify opportunities and provide recommendations to improve Entertainment and sports channel reach, packaging, placement, and overall performance.
  • Support channel teams with insights and recommendations to improve business outcomes.

3. Value Added Services – Revenue generation

  • Support VAS initiatives in collaboration with distribution operators and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze performance of existing VAS offerings and identify opportunities for growth and optimization.
  • Assist in evaluating new VAS concepts, business cases, and market opportunities.
  • Track revenue, subscriber adoption and performance metrics and provide recommendations to improve commercial outcomes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support successful rollout and execution of VAS initiatives.

4. OTT & Competitive Intelligence

  • Monitor pricing, packaging, content offerings, and promotional activities across leading OTT platforms and media competitors.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking of subscription plans, bundles, and value propositions.
  • Track and analyse emerging industry trends and assess their impact on the Pay-TV landscape.
  • Prepare periodic competitive intelligence reports and market updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Support strategic planning exercises through market research and industry analysis.

5. Data, Automation & Strategic Projects

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve decision-making through AI-led initiatives aimed at improving reporting efficiency and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Support strategic projects through analysis, reporting, and project coordination.                                                                    

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA / Postgraduate degree in Business, Strategy, Analytics, Marketing, Media Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Strategy, Business Analytics, Research, Consulting, Distribution, OTT, Broadcast, or Media industries.
  • Experience working with large datasets, business reporting, and performance analysis preferred.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Good understanding of BARC viewership data, media distribution metrics, and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within timelines.
  • Exposure to automation, AI tools, or business intelligence platforms will be an added advantage.
