The role- Assistant Manager – Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE)
What you'll be responsible for
• SSHE Point of Contact: Act as the main SSHE representative for the Manufacturing, Distribution
Centres, Refrigerated Vans, and Office locations in the Ice cream markets of METSA
• SSHE Agenda: Drive the SSHE agenda, ensuring alignment with the company's goals of Zero
Harm in Safety and zero Category 1 incidents in Environment. Undertake ongoing SSHE
training and certification to develop a full-spectrum SSHE skillset
• Maintain the SHE system to ensure compliance with company and relevant industry and
legislative requirements
• Manage day to day SHE activities, including risk assessment, action management and reporting
• Conduct audits as necessary to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement
• Develop the knowledge to complete SHE reporting and conduct data analysis to inform SHE
indicators progression
• Provide support, advice and coaching to management and leadership teams on effective SHE
management practices
• Drive deployment of Framework Standards across the cluster
• Ensure constant improvement in PAR scores across all sites and compliance with Framework
Standards and Specific Standards
• Ensure that action plans made to close gaps are appropriate and completed on time
• Build capabilities in the cluster for Risk Assessment using techniques like PHA/SIMAS/HAZOP
• Coordinate and FWS audits with trained auditors per the annual audit schedule
• Identify and communicate Best Practices across the cluster
• Monitor progress on safety performance of sites in the cluster, check integrity of data and
prepare reports to ensure planned reductions are taking place against targets
• Determine training needs and assist in the delivery of training programs to build new
capabilities in the cluster
• Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever BBS Program and support deployment in
sites
• Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever PSM Program and support deployment in sites, including the application of Unilever guidelines and procedures for Process Safety
assessment (SIMAS)
• Assist in the facilitation of cluster SHE CoPs
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant SSHE regulations, standards, and company
policies.
We're looking for someone who
• University degree in Science or Engineering
• Excellent knowledge of Unilever SHE standards
• Influencing skills and international business/cultural sensitivity
• Good observation and auditing skills
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a SSHE role (Security, Safety, Health, Environment)
preferably within the supply chain or logistics sector. Demonstrable experience in at least 2
SSHE functions including security as part of any previous SSHE role.
