Black & Grey HR is seeking an Assistant Technical Engineer for a leading construction company specializing in high-rise building projects. The ideal candidate will support the technical team in preparing and coordinating shop drawings, BIM models, and engineering documentation, while ensuring design accuracy, technical compliance, and seamless coordination between architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, consultants, and site personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and coordinating architectural and structural shop drawings in accordance with project specifications and consultant requirements.
- Develop and update Revit models for architectural and structural disciplines based on IFC, tender, and construction drawings.
- Coordinate BIM models across Architectural, Structural, and MEP disciplines to identify and resolve clashes.
- Prepare General Arrangement (GA), blockwork, false ceiling, flooring, wall finishes, slab, beam, wall, and column shop drawings.
- Extract AutoCAD drawings, PDFs, DWFs, and IFC files from BIM models for construction and coordination purposes.
- Ensure shop drawings and BIM models are updated based on RFIs, CVIs, consultant instructions, and design revisions.
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify discrepancies and coordinate technical resolutions.
- Prepare technical sketches, detailed drawings, reference drawings, and element coding as required.
- Coordinate with Quantity Surveying (QS) teams regarding material quantities, technical submittals, and drawing revisions.
- Assist in preparing RFIs, CVIs, and technical documentation while following up with consultants for approvals and clarifications.
- Support site engineers by providing technical clarifications, updated drawings, and construction details.
- Coordinate engineering document submissions through document management systems such as Asite.
- Conduct regular site visits to verify construction progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure drawings are implemented correctly.
- Work closely with project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure timely project delivery.
- Assist in maintaining BIM standards, quality procedures, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- 3â5 years of experience in a technical engineering or BIM coordination role within a main contracting/construction company.
- Mandatory experience on high-rise residential, commercial, or mixed-use building projects.
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Architecture/Structure), AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Working knowledge of BIM processes, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), ISO 19650, and Level of Development (LOD) standards.
- Experience preparing architectural and structural shop drawings.
- Good understanding of construction methods, site coordination, engineering documentation, and multidisciplinary BIM workflows.
- Ability to read, interpret, and review construction and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with document control platforms such as Asite is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.
- High attention to detail with excellent time management and the ability to meet project deadlines.
- Knowledge of Dynamo, Python, or other BIM automation tools is an added advantage.
- Willingness to conduct regular site visits and provide technical support throughout project execution.
