Description

Associate - Commercial Management & Quantity Surveying is responsible for providing commercial leadership across UK projects, managing end‑to‑end cost management services, and leading the India QS teams in coordination with UK counterparts.


The role demands a balance of technical expertise, team leadership, client interface capabilities, business development support, and capability building. A key expectation is to expand UK workshare, showcase team capabilities, and mentor future QS professionals. The role requires ownership of commercial leadership and full‑cycle cost management for UK commissions delivered from India. It includes leading a high‑performing QS team, supporting bids, and enhancing delivery quality through structured QA/QC frameworks, training, and digital QS adoption across buildings and infrastructure sectors.



Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Delivery Governance

Build and lead a high‑performing QS team through resource planning, mentorship, performance reviews, and workload allocation. Establish engagement models, SLAs, RACIs,and manage mobilisation and transitions with UK teams. Implement QA/QC gates—checklists, peer reviews, and senior sign‑off—to ensure right‑first‑time outputs. Standardise delivery processes including SOPs, templates, naming conventions, and knowledge repositories.




2. UK Client Interface & Capability Showcases

Serve as the primary commercial interface for UK project leads, PMs, and designers.

Conduct capability presentations including case studies, sample deliverables, and CostX/5D

demos. Define expectations regarding scope, deliverables, assumptions, information exchange, and programme.




3. Commercial & Technical Delivery (UK Standards)

Lead RIBA Stage 0–4 cost planning with benchmarking, allowances, and risk/optimism bias

guidance. Oversee BoQ preparation to NRM/CESMM standards with measurement

consistency and quality. Provide contractual leadership across NEC/JCT/FIDIC:

compensation events, variations, risk, and change control. Direct cost reporting, CVRs,

forecasts, cashflow analysis, and earned value insights. Drive procurement strategies,

tender documentation, and commercial evaluations. Guide value engineering, life‑cycle

costing, and carbon‑cost trade‑off advisory. Promote risk identification, QRA interpretation,

and maintenance of commercial risk registers.


4. Business Development & Work Winning

Support bid responses (SQ/PQQ/ITT), fee proposals, scopes, and mobilisation planning.

Create account growth strategies with UK partners; track pipeline, revenue, margin, and

win‑rate.


5. Digital QS & Reporting

Champion CostX (2D/3D/5D), model‑based take‑off, and structured cost databases.

Encourage data‑driven reporting using advanced Excel and optional Power BI dashboards.




6. Training, Mentoring & Capability Uplift

Develop structured training covering NRM/CESMM, NEC/JCT, CostX, CVR, risk, and

reporting standards. Mentor team members on UK standards and high‑quality commercial

advice.




7. Governance, Quality & Compliance

Align with RICS QS & Construction Pathway competencies. Uphold RICS Rules of Conduct.

 



Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying/Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).

15–20 years of QS/Cost Management experience with substantial 5 years UK project

exposure. Proven experience leading multi project teams in a UK–India delivery model and

interfacing with UK clients/consultants/contractors. Strong working knowledge of NEC/JCT

(FIDIC familiarity is an advantage) and NRM/CESMM measurement norms. Evidence of

delivering RIBA 0–4 cost planning, CVRs/Forecasting, Procurement and Change Control.

 


Tools & Technology

CostX (advanced), MS Excel (Power Query/Pivots),

Microsoft suit - PowerPoint, Word.

Exposure to 5D/BIM workflows, Power BI for dashboards.
