The Instrumentation Engineer – Filling Line Project is responsible for design, specification, installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for filling and packaging lines. The role ensures accurate measurement, reliable control, compliance with safety and quality standards, and seamless integration with automation systems to achieve desired line performance.
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or Related Discipline
6–10 years of experience (adjustable) in: Instrumentation & automation for filling or packaging lines Manufacturing plants or greenfield/brownfield projects
Hands-on experience in project commissioning preferred
Execute instrumentation scope for filling line projects (new lines, upgrades, and expansions)
Review and finalize: Instrument index and specifications I/O lists and control philosophy Wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and hook-up drawings
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and automation teams during project execution
Specification, selection, and installation of instruments such as: Flow, pressure, level, temperature transmitters Load cells, weighing systems, check weighers Vision systems, barcode scanners, sensors, and actuators Control valves, variable frequency drives (VFDs), analyzers
Ensure proper integration of instruments with PLC / DCS / SCADA systems
Support OEM machines such as fillers, cappers, labelers, and conveyors
Supervise field installation and termination of instruments
Perform loop checking, calibration, and functional testing
Support FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities
Troubleshoot instrumentation, signal, and communication issues during startup
Ensure instruments are calibrated as per standards and maintain calibration records
Support IQ, OQ, PQ activities (especially for GMP environments)
Prepare test protocols, commissioning reports, and as-built documentation
Ensure compliance with EHS standards, machine safety norms, and electrical/instrumentation codes
Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, and interlock testing
Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, HACCP, and regulatory requirements (as applicable)
Support performance optimization, troubleshooting, and line stabilization
Develop preventive maintenance plans and spare instrument lists
Train operations and maintenance personnel on instrumentation systems
Strong knowledge of: Industrial instrumentation and measurement principles PLC systems (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, etc.) Field instruments, sensors, and actuators Industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
Ability to read and interpret: P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring drawings
Familiarity with: FAT / SAT procedures Calibration standards and documentation systems
Strong coordination and communication skills
Analytical and troubleshooting capability
Ability to work under tight project schedules
Site execution and vendor management skills
Team-oriented approach with strong ownership
